Look What We Found...

Ahh, Spring! But what comes with Spring? The dreaded chore of mowing the grass. Mini Kevin has to be right in the middle of it too! His $14.00 mower has been the best money spent on a toy! Holden has used it since he was about 18 months and still is using it! Look at the two of them. Holden imitates Kevin so well it is scary! He follows the same lines, walks the same, and takes just as long to complete such a simple task. Must be a male thing:)
Rylan did not want to miss out on all the grass cutting action either. So here he is with his new shades.
As the boys were mowing, we noticed a little momma bird on her nest underneath the plants. I believe all the noise scared her, and she moved for a brief moment. She had laid eggs! What a treat! We will have to keep watch for the new baby birds to hatch.

Our Busy Weekend Outside

With the temperatures hitting 80+ this weekend we planned several outside activities.
The weekend started out with Rylan and I enjoying a walk together. From the looks of it, he enjoyed it so much that he fell asleep. Doesn't he look so sweet!
Holden had T-ball pictures and a game Saturday morning. This week he was even more excited about playing. However, he does not understand the concept of running all the bases. He hits the ball and then runs to first base but then heads back into the dugout to bat again. I think on this weeks agenda I need to pull out our bases and practice. First run to first, second run to second, third run to third, and then run home!

Rylan enjoyed he first wagon ride with Holden and loved it!

We planted our wildflower seeds from the party on Friday.

And I was not watching, thus we over watered the seeds already! I just do not have a green thumb.

Then, Holden decided he needed to get wet and Rylan just watched.

What a fun weekend!

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Party

Holden's friend Anna Kate celebrated her 4th Birthday at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve on Friday. I knew this party was going to be extra special party since her mom, Katie, is cute and crafty herself. She actually has a business called Cherry Bows where she makes the cutest hair bows. You can check out her website at http://www.cherrybows.com/. If only I had a little girl!

The party started off with a meeting of the animals at the visitor center. The kids saw ducks, turtles, frogs, spiders, and snakes. The director, Mr. Ben, played a game that taught the kids about insects and habitats. Afterwards, we set off on a hike. And it just happened to be our "lucky day", Mr. Ben found a snake on our hike! All of the kids wanted to touch and feel the snake, thankfully, he explained that only adults should pickup snakes. (Let me just tell you, this adult will not be "picking up" any snakes!) As our hike continued, we stopped to splash in the creek. Finally, we made it back to the pavilion for lunch.

Katie had personalized sand buckets for each child which she filled with star and flower cutout sandwiches, trail mix and apples. Oh, and the delicious flower cupcakes for dessert. The tables were decorated with burlap, Gerber daisies, confetti, and tattoos. As party favors, the kids enjoyed their very own bug kit, plastic lizard, wildflower seeds for planting, candy and so much more. As you can see this party was too cute. And the day was a little boys' dream!
I think we will be visiting the Nature Preserve again very soon!!

Injured Soldier?

Rylan has started crawling. Well, let me rephrase, he has started what I like to call the injured soldier crawl. He uses his shoulder to throw his other arm over to get somewhere. Poor little thing has carpet burn from using his face to help him move! He has become pretty quick about it too. I say in about a week or two he will be fully crawling then watch out world!!

Muffins with Mom

Mt. Pisgah's annual Muffins with Mom was Tuesday. The theme for this year was flowers and tea. The morning started out with Holden greeting me with a rose and then he escorted me into the classroom. Too cute!! After showing me his "spot", I was instructed to wear the hat that he made for me. As you can see, he is not a picture person! We enjoyed muffins, cookies, fruit, and juice together. As a special surprise, Ms. Jan put together a DVD of pictures of all the children from the beginning of the year until now. That alone was a tear jerker, but she also added the song "Let Them Be Little" by Lonestar as the pictures are playing in the video. Here is the link to the song if you have not heard it before http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCuVHi_gwuY
It is sad to see how much they have grown in just a couple of months. Their little baby faces look so grown. Time goes by so quickly!

One of the funniest gifts was posted on the wall. The kids were asked questions about their mom. I just love to hear what kids say. Some of their answers were hilarious: my mom' s favorite thing to do is "go get a drink" or my mom has "she dyes her hair dark" color hair or my mom weighs "100,000" pounds. Thankfully, mine was not that bad.
Holden's answers were as follows:
My Mom's name is "Just Mommy".
My Mom has "Green" eyes.
My Mom has "brown" hair.
My Mom weighs "30" pounds.
I like when my Mom cooks "strawberries, cookies, and cupcakes".
I don't like it when she cooks "Chicken".
My Mom likes to "make cookies and cupcakes".
My favorite thing to do with my Mom is"Play games".
The picture of me however, is another story. I think it is safe to say we do not have an artist.

Here are all my gifts from Muffins with Mom. What a treat! It feels like Mother's Day!

Night Treats

Kevin is in Boston for an interview for the next couple of days. Holden was not happy about this so I decided to make a special treat for him while he was at school. After encouraging Holden to finish dinner I brought out his treat....cookie ice cream sandwiches with sprinkles. This made the thought of just snuggling with mom at bedtime not so bad.

T-ball or Chicken Little?

Holden's first T-ball game was this past weekend. Let's just say it was hilarious!! First of all, the poor kids look like Chicken Little because the uniforms are so big! Secondly, there were more parents on the field than actual kids playing. Then, we had a couple of kids who thought
T-ball was a full contact sport. (Holden just happened to be one of them) He is one determined little guy, he somehow always ended up with the ball. What a game! I am not exactly sure who won the game but it provided some much needed laughter!

Let's play ball!!

Holden and Cooper decided it was time to take a break.

Like Father Like Son (Kevin is one of the coaches)

If you are wondering, why the kids are not wearing helmets at bat, it is because in the 3 year old T-ball league they use a rubber/foam ball and bat. And after watching how some of the kids throw the bat after hitting the ball I see why.
I think the Dodgers are off to a great season or at least some great laughs this season!

Watch What You Say...

Note: This is actually Kevin's Story

Kevin had to pick up a couple of items at Home Depot and Holden decided to join him. Kevin thought it would be easier if he got a cart for his items and Holden could ride too. They turned down an isle and where there were several shoppers. Holden yelled at the top of his lungs, "Get out of the way people. Move it, Move it" Kevin was embarrassed and apologized to the customers. Then said to Holden "Don't say that." And asked him, "Who says that?" Holden looked at Kevin and answered, "Mommy does all the time when she is driving. She says, Move it, move it people. Get out of the way!"

Kevin came home to tell me the story and I have to say, yes, I am guilty! I suppose I need to watch what I say since I have little ears listening and repeating everything.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! I decorated the breakfast table the night before with Easter decorations, nest eggs and peep lollipops. Nothing excites a toddler more than sweets and chocolate. Both boys were excited to see what the Easter Bunny had left them.

My little bunnies!

The boys before church on Sunday. Don't they look cute?
Monday, once again it was raining and we were under the big umbrellas when I saw a little boy with a fireman umbrella and then it reminded me that I (Easter Bunny) bought two fireman umbrellas for the boys and forgot to get them out of the closet! Opps!! I guess mommy will just have to find a reason to give them now.
Happy Easter!!

What A Night!!

On Friday, Kevin and I had tickets to see Georgia's own Sugarland and Luke Bryan in concert. By the way, Luke Bryan is a cutie!! When we left the house, it looked like it was going to storm but Kevin's parents said they would be fine. We called after dinner to see how they were doing, and they said Rylan cried when we left and did not stop until he went to bed. But again, they said that they were fine and were getting ready to read to Holden and put him to bed. When we got to our seats at the Gwinnett Arena, it was about 7:30 and I asked Kevin if we should call again - he answered, "No, they are fine, stop worrying!"
After the great concert, we were driving home talking about how we thought Holden probably conned the grandparents into something. When we arrived home, Sadako was asleep on the sofa and Leroy was pacing the floors with a look on his face that said, "Something happened. " So, he proceeds to tell us that the tornado sirens went off and that they had to wake the boys not once but twice to seek shelter in the downstairs walk-in closet. He said there was hail, wind, and lots of crying!! And one more thing, the tree fell and hit the fence. WOW, what a night!!! I think the Grandparents needed a stiff drink or two after that night! I do not think they will be volunteering any time soon!!!
The next morning it seemed like both boys woke up at the crack of dawn to make sure we were at home! Holden proceeded to tell me how the wind was blowing and that the tree crashed into our fence and then he screamed, and I quote, "bloody murder". Holden said, "Next time you leave, I am not going to be ok, ok". Oh, Holden!

Preschool Easter Party

I was not one of the Mom's who had signed up to help with the Easter Party at the beginning of the year, however, Thursday morning we were walking into school and one of the mom's said she could not make it and asked if I could come to help out. Before I could even get a word out, Holden answered, "Sure you can Momma." So, Rylan and I came back to help with the Easter Egg Hunt and party. My little man was thrilled we were there and it made my day too!

To add to the Easter celebration each child made a cross the day before with
their finger prints to represent the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. While it may
seem like another "child" craft to some people, it truly means a lot to me since
I collect crosses and this one has a memory to go with it. I just need to find
the perfect place to hang it.
