Down in Mississippi

Every time I am in Mississippi, Sugarland's chorus pops into my head..."Down in Mississippi and up to no good!" That was not exactly the case on this visit but I still love the song!

The reason we headed down south to Mississippi, was for my niece's, Allie, graduation. After the LONG and the horrible weather we experienced on the drive down to Mississippi, the boys were excited to see their cousins and were ready to play! Ashford took us all on a ride on the go-cart. My little dare devils loved each ride!

Friday, all of our family had arrived and were ready to celebrate Allie graduating. Kimberly and I decorated the night before with flowers, pearls, and placed Allie's pictures throughout the house. Here is a little glimpse... Oh, how time flies!!

Since everyone was in town, we enjoyed a family style cookout with tons and tons of food!! And yes, only in the South will you find hot dog buns on a silver platter and a plethora of sweet tea!Do I hear the words, "Welcome Home!"

We all enjoyed food, friends, family,(My Granddaddy)(The Grandmothers-Nene and Meme.)(Aunt Betsy and Rylan...they were best of friends all weekend!)

and laughs! Not to mention the scenery...my sisters pool and her flowers were beautiful! All this activity and attention, the boys will never want to come home!

Last Days of Preschool & Graduation

Last Friday was suppose to be Holden's Preschool graduation and class picnic. However, since we were heading out of town on Wednesday, Miss Patty, his teacher, told me to come early and the class would sing the songs that they would perform in the program on Friday. She said she would also present Holden with his diploma and memory book. Since Holden's birthday is technically considered a summer birthday he celebrated that on Wednesday too. What an overwhelming day! (Mainly for me!) And since it was the end of the year it was time to show our appreciation. For his teachers gifts we filled the bags with seeds, gardening gloves, a flower note pad, and a Lily that the boys picked out for their teachers. Then I made little flower potting sticks that read, "Thank you for helping Holden bloom!" and I did the same for Rylan's teachers too. Then to celebrate summer for each of the boys classmates and friends I made summer goodies bags with bubbles and gummies. I found these free cute printables online that I glue around the bubbles and used to tied the goody bags together. Since we were missing the picnic and to celebrate Holden's summer birthday and graduation, I made graduation cupcakes. I was able to find these free Star Wars graduation printables that were perfect to place on the boxes for the kids to take home. It fit Holden's personality perfectly! He loved the added touch! Now on to my little 2011 Pre-K Graduate....

First the class wished him a Happy Birthday and blew him 6 kisses while Miss Patty hugged him 6 times. Can you tell this little man loved the attention? After singing songs about Kindergarten, Miss Patty presented Holden with his diploma and memory book. So sweet! The pictures and writings will be treasured for years to come! I can not say enough great things about this year. Holding Holden back a year did a wonder! He has grown not only in size but in his writing, reading, and his overall self-confidence. I personally can not take all the credit, he had two of the most wonderful teachers he could have asked for and I know he will miss them dearly next year. But thankfully, Rylan will attend the same preschool next fall and Holden can drop by and say hello at anytime! My little graduate! As always, my wish for you is to always chase your dreams, never let go of them and know that you are always loved no matter what! We love you Holden, our soon to be Kindergartner!

Catching up....

We have had so much going on over the past week. Here is a little run down of our busy lives, 2 Graduations, 3 parties, a milestone birthday, visiting family, and traveling over 1500 miles through 4 states in 5 days. Whew, we are exhausted! Not to mention our laundry is piled up for days! There were several milestones and events that I captured over the past week and now it is time for me to catch up and start posting these precious memories! Hopefully, I will be able to accomplish this task over the next couple of days. Or at least I am hoping to!

Weekend and Sunshine!

After weeks of rain, we finally received some much needed sunshine this weekend! All week we promised the boys that if the weather was nice on Friday, we would roast marshmallows in the fire pit. Thankfully, the weather cooperated and we were able to "fire" it up. We started a little early since both Holden and Rylan had been playing outside all afternoon I knew if we waited too late we would have two tired little boys in the morning, which is never fun. We roasted marshmallows and s'mores in our new handy s'more gadget. And as expected, every time I looked at Rylan he had another s'more in his hand and chocolate covering his face. Yum!

They were messy but fun.

Saturday morning after Holden's soccer game, we headed over to one of our favorite baseball fields, Praco Park to watch the NCCAA World Series. The boys love the blow ups just as much as they love watching the baseball game. We met up with some friends to watch the game and enjoyed some baseball favorites..hot dogs and ice cream of course. I just loved their reactions during the game! After watching the game, the boys decided it was time for them to practice their personal baseball pitching and hitting in the kids area. I think I see three future ball players, don't you! I do not think we could have asked for better weather on Saturday. A perfect day to spend at the ball park, if you ask me!

Before the clouds and rain settled back in today, we finished up some much needed yard work and planting. We added some of our southern favorites to the yard, hydrangeas, roses, and peonies. Finally after a long winter and weeks of rain, we were able to enjoy the great outdoors all weekend. I just hope it lasts! Now we are all looking forward to to warmer temperatures and the boys upcoming summer break.
