Pumpkin Carving

With just a couple of days left before Halloween, the boys and I decided it was time to finally carve our pumpkins.

First we cleaned out each pumpkin.  We all know the boys enjoy getting their hands dirty so this is one of their favorite parts of carving, pulling out all those seeds.

It's a messy job but someone has to do it.

After searching for the perfect template, it was time to get to carving.  Every year I say the same thing, these templates always look easy nut seem to take twice as long to create.

Here are our final creations...Rylan decided on a Ghost pumpkin  and Holden chose to make his a Dracula pumpkin.

Typical we would have lit these outside but it was cold, windy, and rainy.  Instead we lit the pumpkins inside.  At last, here they are all aglow.

Happy Halloween Eve!

33 Weeks & Happy Halloween

Here is a glimpse at 33 weeks!

It was cold and very windy when we tried to take this weeks picture but here I am still growing!

Happy Halloween!

Our church held it's annual Trunk-or-Treat yesterday.  Once again, we were running from one event to the next but somehow we made it and in full costume.  This year we let Holden and Rylan decide our theme for the family this year, not sure why we let them, but here we are as The Avengers!

Yes, that is Kevin as "Captain America", Holden as "Thor", Rylan as "Hulk Smash" and yes, me as "Black Widow".  And yes, that is spandex I am wearing at 33 weeks pregnant!  The things we do for the kids!  At least everyone got a good laugh, I know I did.  What a sight we were!

It was very cold and windy but that did not stop the crowds from coming out to Trunk-or-Treat.

I think Kevin enjoyed his costume more than he wanted me to believe...

He was posing every chance he could get!

Rylan was not too keen on wearing his "Hulk" mask so we painted his face green, per his request.  If only you could hear him saying,"Hulk, Smash" at the top of his lungs. He is such a mess!

The kids loaded up on lots and lots of candy before heading back to the car to warm up. BRR!

Another fun year at Trunk-or-Treat with friends.

Game Day at Miami University

As you may remember from last year, part of the Upward Flag Football season the kids are allowed to go on the field with the Miami University team.

Saturday was this years Upward annual game.  Well, little did we know it was also Parents Weekend, High Recruits Weekend and their biggest rival.  In other words, it was a busy weekend, hence lots and lots of traffic!  We followed some friends to the game so after sitting in game day traffic we all decided it was best that the Dad's and the kids go ahead and go to the game without us and we would catch up with them.

I am sure you can guess, us mom's sat in traffic forever!!!  And we missed the kids running out on the field with the team.  Yes, I was bummed, no pictures!  But at least the boys did not miss the chance to participate.  We made it just in time to watch the game with the kiddos.

It was cold and windy but a fun time for us all.  I suppose next time we should plan for alot more time before the game so we do not miss a thing,  Lesson Learned!

Rylan's First Field Trip

Rylan had his very first field trip yesterday.  To say he was excited, is an understatement   He has been talking about going on his class field trip for weeks now.  So with much anticipation we spent the morning at Schappachers Farm.  Yes, I was just here with Holden's class but as we all know a field trip with friends is always exciting.

First the kids fed the cows,

the donkeys, and then Farmer Schappacher opened the barn doors and 250 turkeys came filing out!

WOW!  Just look at these guys!  Rylan was amazed!  Then we all piled on the wagons for a hay ride to the pumpkin patch.

Rylan found his "winning" pumpkin to take home,

but as we were leaving he found this jewel and decided he liked this big one better!

HA!  I think it is as big as he is.  We finished our field trip at the farm with juice and snacks with friends.

I think it is safe to say that Rylan's first field trip was a success!
