Our two little Santas

Tonight's bath time turned into playtime central!  The boys pretended they were Santa, hats and all.

They were even yelling "Ho, Ho; Ho".

Oh these two!

There is never a lack of imagination or creativity, not to mention a dull moment around our house.

37 Weeks

It has been a busy couple of days.  I have been trying to get all of those last minute items taken care of before our newest addition arrives.  With that said, I almost forgot to take my 37 week picture!  So better late than never.

37 weeks and all of our trees and Christmas decorations are up.  Another item off my list of "things to do."

Our Annual Trip to the Christmas Tree Farm

One of our all time favorite holiday activities is our annual trip to Big Tree Plantation to cut down a family tree.

As I say every year, this place is one of the best!  Rows and rows of trees,

live reindeer,

horse drawn wagons taking you to the fields,

and Christmas music playing.  And Saturdays frigid temperatures and light snow flurries really made the experience all the more picturesqueness.

Just like in the year's past, we let the boys choose the tree. Yes, many times the trees have been less than perfect but the boys get a kick out of choosing "the best tree".  As soon as we made our way to the fields, Holden and Rylan were on a mission.

For some reason this year these two were even more picky than in yeas past.  But after searching we finally settled on one.

The kids helped Kevin cut the tree down

but before  they could yell timber, the tree fell on top of Kevin!

Of course they thought this was the funniest thing ever!  And to be honest, it was!

We made our way back to the barn with our family tree.

Once we were inside, we warmed up with hot chocolate and cookies.

As we were leaving, Kevin thought it would be funny to pose as next years harvest.

When we got home from the farm, the boys went right to decorating their tree with all the ornaments they have made over the years.

Here are just a few of my favorites...

But I have to say the angel with the picture of Holden in it with his stiches and jacket buttoned incorrectly is still one of my all time favorites.

With the star shining on top, the boys tree was complete.

Very colorful and a little crazy but oh they are so proud of their work.

A Special Movie Night and a Delivery

Friday night is our typical family movie night but this week, I decided to surprise the boys with a special movie night.  I made movie tickets just for this occasion.

As part of the surprise, when the boys came into the movie room, I had set-up a hot chocolate bar with marshmallows  sprinkles, whip cream and of course hot chocolate.

Now we could not have movie night without popcorn and treats so we had Christmas tree brownies.

I am sure by now you can guess the surprise movie was "The Polar Express."

But before we started the movie the door bell rang with a special delivery

And look who the boys found in the kitchen...

Our Elf Christian.

After all the excitement of our elf, we settled in for our special movie night.

Holden was amazed that his ticket really looked just like the one in the movie along with the bells.

It is always fun to surprise these two!  I have to say this really is the best time of the year!

Thanksgiving 2012

Our Thanksgiving this year was a little non-traditional for us.  To begin with, we did not travel, instead we stayed here and after the weekend we had I do not think the boys will ever want to travel again.  It has been one constant playdate since Wednesday!  I think at one point on Wednesday I counted 14 kids in our yard and that did not include the boys and their two friends they had over that day.  Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, we spent the morning watching the parade and cooking.  Since we were at home I decided to make the morning a little special with some turkeys for our two turkeys.

Our original plan for Thanksgiving was just for the four of us to spend the day celebrating together.  Then Rylan's little friend Grant's mom asked us to join them for Thanksgiving.  Thinking she was just inviting us to be nice I really did not think too much about it until she called and asked us again.  So instead of spending the day with just us, we join their family for the day.  I think there was a total of 20 of us for dinner.  And trust me the boys were loving playing with all their friends!

They played football and even had a dance party...and yes, the shirts had to come off!

These boys!

Finally it was time to give thanks and enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with new friends.  It was perfect.

The kids had a blast and Kevin and I enjoyed getting to know new friends.  As we were leaving Abby sent us home with a Thanksgiving Blessing mix.

This year was a little non-traditional for us but we were thankful to have sweet friends to spend this day with.  Happy Thanksgiving!  Wishing you many blessing throughout this upcoming holiday season.
