Star of the Week {Rylan}

Since the beginning of the school year, Rylan has been anxiously awaiting his turn to be "Star of the Week".  Finally, his time came this past week.  Each day the "Star" is required to bring the following; Day 1: an "All about Me" poster, Day 2: Show & Tell items, and then the final day, Day 3: A take home treat for the class.

For Rylan's poster, I made the mistake of asking him which pictures he wanted to use.  Well, he decided all of them.  Literally, he kept tell me to add more pictures and that these were his favorite ones and so forth.  Our final poster ended up looking like this...

Lots of pictures I know but that is what the "Star" wanted.

Even though I tried my best to add all the pictures he wanted, there was just not enough room.  So with the leftover pictures, Rylan made a second poster.  After finishing his poster, he decided he needed to hang his creation in his room.

He is a little star indeed.

For his Show & Tell he brought his flag football trophy and his bear Bearamy. Two of his favorites.

For the final day, I again made the mistake of asking Rylan what he wanted to bring for his treat.  His special request, star cookies with blue icing and sprinkles.  I am sure you can already guess what I made...

star cookies with blue icing and sprinkles.  The sprinkles were added by the star him self, hence, that is why there is such an abundance!

At Fridays chapel, I walked in only to see the "Star of the Week" wearing a crown and enjoying every minute of his new found attention.

You will have to excuse the picture, it was taken with my phone, but as you can see he was hamming it up as a"Star" would only do!

Monkey'n Around

I must confess, I have an obsession with sock monkeys.  I just think they are adorable.  Holden had the sweetest sock monkey overall set when he was little and we passed it on to Rylan.  Thankfully, we kept the overall set and can pass it on to Leyton too.   For Christmas, Leyton received the most adorable sock monkey outfit and crib socks from Santa.  I could not wait for him to wear it!  As I suspected, he looked adorable.

Especially with his sweet little smile.

I am sure it is pretty clear, we love this little monkey to pieces!

A New Do?

I took the boys to get their haircut over the weekend and Rylan told the girl he wanted spiky hair.  Me, on the other hand, did not want his hair as a buzz cut so we opted for a little shorter hoping to appease him.  Well, later that afternoon Rylan disappeared for a bit and then all of a sudden he reappeared with gel all in his hair and it spiky. (I suppose he got his way)  I must admit it did look cute for the day.  Again, not thinking too much of this one time hair experience we went to bed that night.  Oh but now, he has decided that every morning and night to gel and spike his hair.

Oh my goodness, what has come over him?  Rylan also has a certain way of styling his hair too...he runs his little hands through the front and voila...

spiked hair.  He loves to show me this.

Rylan is one person I never thought that would be concerned about his hair.  However, all this week, indeed it has been all about the hair!  Now, I will be the first to admit the shorter hair does make his baby blues brighter but at the same time he looks like a big boy!

Yikes! Where is my little baby boy?!  First hair products, now what's next?

Go 49er's Go!

A couple of months ago Holden started collecting NFL players cards.  Rylan, of course, started collecting them too.

Holden decided to take a couple of his cards to school for show and tell and then all of a sudden he started asking about the San Francisco 49er's.  Each week he would ask Kevin about the game, players, and so forth. Since Kevin and I are not big NFL fans, each week Kevin would look up how they did so Monday morning he would know each week. We started thinking a friend at school must be a fan or something because where on earth did this obsession with the 49er's come from?!  But his love for the 49er's continued.  And wouldn't you know, Rylan became a fan too!  Go figure!  Well, lo and behold, the San Francisco 49er's ended up being in the NFC Championship game today.

As a surprise I found San Francisco 49er's t-shirts really cheap.

They boys were thrilled!

I even put Leyton in his football outfit.

Rylan took it upon himself to blackout his eyes.  He is a character!

Well, wouldn't you know it, the San Francisco 49er's won the NFC Championship game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Now they are off to the Super Bowl.  What are the chances of Holden's obsession with the 49er's landing this team in the Super Bowl?  Just crazy!  But they are loving it!  I suppose now we need to start cheering Go 49er's Go!

Just because...

There is no real reason for this post, except I suppose it is just because it is Wednesday...

Or maybe it is just because his shirt makes me laugh...

Or I suppose the real reason for the post is just because he is so darn cute!

Yeah, that is reason enough for me too.

Just look at those precious feet!

Perfection!

Happy Wednesday!

Season Opener of Basketball

Upward Basketball season has begun!  Holden's first game was early Saturday morning.  His team name this year is "The Gators"!  What are the chances?  He was excited about the team name.

As the game began I think some of the kids were a little confused since this was I think the first time they have played on a full court.  With that said, there were alot of play calling and correcting for the first game.  Holden did really well for his first game.  He seemed a little nervous but he played some really good defense and almost made basket.

This is the first year that the height of the goal has gone up to 8 feet.  I think this will take a little getting used to but the kids did great for the first game.  Rylan of course was "a coach" and was in full basketball attire.

Ahh, soon this little one will get his chance to play on his own team!  And as for little Leyton, he enjoyed the game too.

Another great beginning with Upward Sports.  Go Gators!

Enjoying this time

This week was our first week back to school, activities, and a schedule after the Christmas break.  It also meant a little one on one time with Leyton.  While he was doing his daily tummy time I looked over and he was almost asleep!

It must have been the quiet and stillness of the house that relaxed this little guy to sleep.  I just love his cheeks especially now that they are really filling out!  These times together are so precious.

Accident waiting to happen

Kevin and I are constantly telling the boys to be careful in the bathroom.  For some reason every night they get out of the bath tub and they both start fooling around.  Either they are messing with each other or one is pushing the other out of the way to brush their teeth, they are always doing something.  Well. just like we said an accident waiting to happen and of course it did.  Holden fell and the next thing we know he is screaming and there is blood.  GREAT!  When he finally calms down we see that he has busted his chin and chipped his tooth.  Are you serious!  This is the third, yes, the third tooth he had chipped.  The first two were baby teeth and then this one, a permanent.
Instead of going to the emergency room for stitches, nurse mommy put butterfly stitches to fix the cute.  And as for the chipped tooth, Kevin took Holden to an Urgent Care Dentist who fixed the tooth and made sure there was not any further damage.  Thankfully, it was not.  So here is our little "accident waiting to happen".

He looks pitiful doesn't he.

We are hoping this is a lesson learned.  One can hope right?

1 Month Stats

Friday was Leyton's 1 month doctors appointment.  Here are his current stats:

Weight: 8lbs 9.5 oz
Length: 21.5 inches
Head Circumference: 14.25 inches

Our little man is growing so fast.  Besides growing, Leyton has started smiling and cooing, which is the best!

Doesn't he have the sweetest little smile?!

1 Month Old

Look who's 1 Month Old today!

I can not even begin to tell you how fast this month has flown by!  Maybe it was because we have had non-stop visitors or the fact that the holidays are always so busy.  Either way, this sweet little one is growing more and more each day.

Happy 1 Month Leyton!
