Apple Picking

There is a chill in the air and it's finally starting to feel like fall around here.  It seems like our days and weeks are so busy lately that we needed to take a step back and have some family fun.  One of our favorite fall traditions is to go apple picking.  We found a wonderful orchard a couple years ago and have been going there ever since.

Holden and Rylan picked out their clothes for our outing...

because you know everyone needs spurs to go apple picking. Since this was Leyton's first year to go apple picking, we had to take several pictures before we head out to the orchards.

We rode on the tractor out to the fields and once we were there, the boys went straight to climbing and picking.

Not to mention a little tasting! Even little Leyton tried to sneak in a little taste.

This years crop of apples were great!  We ended up picking 20 pounds of apples!

So you know what that means, alot of cooking and canning this week.

It was nice to get away for the afternoon and have a little family fun together, especially with our little country boys at heart.

 Happy Fall Y'all!

New Pets?

Rylan has been bugging me for a pet for the longest time.  First it was a dog, then it was a hamster, and now it is back to a dog.  But do not worry, it will be a LONG time before we get a dog or any animal of that sort.
While we were checking on our garden yesterday, Rylan found several caterpillars on our carrots and parsley.  Of course he quickly asked, "Can we keep them?"  And before I could even say yes, he was inside getting little jars to put them in. He was so excited that he even named them.

Some of their names are; High-top, Superman, Peaches, Aqua man, and Ninja.  Yes, their names are as unique as Rylan.  Before bed he had to go and tell them goodnight and as soon as he woke up, he check on them to make sure they were all ok, and they were.

On the way to Preschool this morning, he asked if his new pets could be his "Show & Tell" for this week.  I explained that I needed to ask his teacher before hand. Well, when I asked her, she gave me a bug catcher to bring them in.  I cleaned the container so that when Rylan came home, he could place his pets in their new home.  Again, he was all about his new pets and taking care of them.

I suppose one day we could get a pet but for now these little creatures will do us just fine.

This is what I like to call a glimpse of a day in the life of a little boy...bugs, dirt, and anything else messy!

A Weekend Recap

Kevin's parents and sister came to visit this past weekend.  And after this weekend, they may need a week to recover.  The boys had Dad-Daddy and Aunt Jen-Jen running around playing hide-and-go seek tag.

While Grammy pulled Leyton in the wagon.

Saturday morning was Rylan's first flag football game.  He was so excited!  Kevin is one the coaches for his little team, the Cougars.  From the looks of Rylan's team, I think it is safe to say they are pretty small.

But that did not discourage our little players, they were running all over the field.

At the last play of the game Rylan got the ball and ran for a......

He was so proud of himself.  A great season opener for Rylan and the Cougars.

The second game of the day was Holden's at 6:30.

He was excited with the thought of possibly being able to play underneath the lights for at least part of the game.  (Jerseys finally came in and Holden is number 11)

Holden played a couple of different positions throughout the game and each time he hustled out to get into his position.

Each time he tried his best but his best tackle came at the last play of the game and underneath the lights, Sycamore was stopped which resulted in a WIN for the Stallions 6-0!!!

A great weekend visit with family and a great weekend of football with the boys, even my beloved Ole Miss Rebels won too!
