Halloween Eve

Every year we spend Halloween Eve carving pumpkins.  This year was much of the same but before we carved our big pumpkins, I dressed Leyton in his second costume....

a COW.  Oh my gracious, look at this precious boy!

I know I am bias but I do believe he is the cutest cow ever!

Once we finished supper, the carving began.

Holden loves to get his hands dirty where Rylan just wants to cut any and everything possible.

An interesting combination!  But with some time and a lot of carving,

these are the boys creations, a gremlin and a mummy.

They were pretty proud of their masterpieces especially when they were all lit up.

Prefect timing with Halloween a day away.

Halloween Bits

The days leading up to Halloween Rylan and I stayed busy while Leyton slept.  Rylan made a Spooky House which was so much fun for him to make.

He actually worked on it for hours.  We made spooky eyeballs and witches brooms.

Somehow Rylan convinced me to let him carve a pumpkin, a week out before Halloween, and this is his masterpiece.

More fun to come as we get closer to Halloween.

Trunk-or-Treat 2013

Last night was our church's annual Trunk-or-Treat.  This years theme was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and let me tell you, I had the hardest time finding costumes!!!  Literally, everyone was sold out or their shipment was delayed.  I had thought about making the costumes but the boys quickly put the "kabash" to that idea.  Finally, I found two Leonardo costumes. I made some minor adjustments to Rylan's so that he could be Raphael,  for little Leyton I found a oneie and jacket  for Donatello and for Kevin I only could find a T-shirt so he could be Michelangelo.  I dressed up as April, which no one understood but oh well, it went with the family theme.  Not perfect, but it worked.

Again with our trunk, no one seemed to get it.  We saved pizza boxes (because the ninja turtles love pizza) and had them in the trunk and on the ground with black trash bags so it looked like the sewer where they live.

I thought it was clever but no one got it.  I suppose next year I need to be a little more creative.

I tried to get a picture of the 4 Ninja Turtles before the Trunk-or-Treating began but they were too consumed with getting in line to start treating that this was the only picture I could get before they were off and running.

My friend and I stayed at the car and handed out candy and these are some of my very favorite costumes.

  Aren't they adorable.

The boys made their way back and snuck in a couple of pieces of candy.

And here's our crew we had at our car.

Finally, one last picture of our turtles

and of course the outakes with these three.

Another successful Trunk-or-Treat....

Field Trip Friday {Part II}

This past Friday, Rylan's preschool class went on another field trip.  This time we visited Schappachers Farm.  As you may recall we visited this farm last fall when Rylan was in the 4's class however, each time we go, it is always a fun experience.  Farmer Butch greeted us and told us all about the farm.  He first talked about the different types of corn and how he uses them around the farm.

Then we headed over to feed the cows.

What an adventure!  Rylan jumped right up to the fence when they were give permission, hence no picture!

We then fed the donkeys and went to see the turkeys.

Turkey, Turkey, Turkey!

Finally, we headed out to the pumpkin patch for the perfect pumpkin.

Rylan search and searched and finally found his perfect one.

We finished off our field trip to farm with popcorn and juice.  These little ones were happy, happy, happy.

Before we left the farm I bought a couple of ears of corn for popping and as soon as we got home, Rylan wanted to try them out.    So we placed this ear of corn in a bag and then into the microwave.

After a few minutes, we had popcorn right off the cob.

I had never tried this before and was just as excited as Rylan was.
Granted it did not pop as well as I had thought it would but Rylan did not seem to mind and ate it off the cob!

Another fun Field Trip Friday in the memory books.
