Snow Day!

It is bitter cold here.  As in, the high today was -2 and the low was -15.  Wind chills are in the -30's.  Completely crazy!   But before these bitter cold temperatures hit, we did have a couple of fun days in the snow with lots of sledding and snowman building.

Today, schools were closed and we decided to hibernate.  However, we did try a science experiment in these cold temperatures.  I've seen on a couple of sites where if you blow bubbles when temperatures are this cold they will crystalize within seconds.  We tried a could of times and could not get it to work the bubble solution was freezing before I could even blow it.  Finally a friend told me to warm the bubble solution and then blow them.  Well, it worked!  Here you can see the bubble crystalize within a couple of seconds.

The boys thought this was so cool.

I suppose these cold temperatures are good for something!  School is cancelled once again and I have a feeling this will not be the last snow day since winter has just begun.
