Sushi Anyone?
I've seen several recipes for kids sushi in magazines and even made some at 1/2 Pint Kids cooking. Alot of them consist of fruit roll ups and cake. But today we decide to make our own version of sushi.
Here is how we made these great snacks, after cutting the crust off the bread, the boys rolled their bread flat.
Then I let them choose from peanut butter, jelly, banana slices, raisins, chocolate chips, and honey to spread on the bread.

(This was all I had in the pantry for this spur of the moment snack.) We then rolled, sliced, and ate our version of sushi, with chop sticks of coarse.

Yummy! Plus, something fun to break up this dreary day!

Will they grow??
After receiving gardening kits from the Easter Bunny, yes, I know I am a little behind, we are finally getting around to planting them today!
First we decorated our planting sticks,
then we soaked our soil packets,
and finally we planted our seeds.
The boys planted peppers and tomatoes. We had to start off small. Next week will plant sunflowers but we are going to see how this goes first.
Our little seedling sure look cute but will they grow?? Stay tuned and see
Quote of the Day
As I was driving today, I was flipping through the radio stations and Holden yelled out, "That is the Thunder Song" Not knowing what he was talking about I switched it back. It was a song I had never heard before but the chorus did say something about thunder. I said "Wow Holden. How did you know that?" He responded," Because God made my brain super smart. That's why."

Weekend Review
Over the weekend my cousin Beth and her family came to visit us. Despite Holden being so excited, he was not willing to give up his Friday night Movie Night. Thankfully, Ashley and Drew were just fine having pizza, popcorn, cookies and a movie.
Rylan was so excited about the popcorn that he would not put on his pajamas. You really can not mess with him and his food!

Even Kevin had a great time on the slides!

Sunday was also Mother's Day. I had a wonderful one filled with lots of homemade gifts and love! I just wished my littlest Momma's boy would have slept a little longer but hey, other than that it was a great day!
On Saturday, the plan was to go to Holden soccer game and then go to Highfield Discovery Gardens but it was COLD!!! So cold that Holden refused to play soccer! You can really tell we are from the South. anything below 50 is freezing! After watching the game on the sidelines, we instead ventured over to Sharon Woods for some fun.
Sharon Woods is a huge park with golf, canoeing, hiking, playgrounds, fishing, and so forth but they also have a great indoor tree house for the kids to climb and play.

That night Beth and Mike went to the Cubs vs. Reds game and we watched all of the kiddos. I think they all must have been wore out! We had all the kids asleep before 8:00!
Sunday, they joined us for church. After the service Holden and Rylan showed their cousins what they like best about going to church....
the donuts! Most Sundays this is where you will find these two, on the fireplace at church eating donuts. No wonder it is not a struggle to get them to go!
Even though our plans for the weekend had to be altered, I think everyone had a great visit.

Teacher Appreciation
This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week at Holden's preschool. They were asked to create something homemade to express their appreciation for their teachers hard work. To honor his teachers on Wednesday we gave them little flower pots with a paper flower that said "Thanks for helping Holden bloom" and we placed seed packets for them to plant.

On Friday, we honored his teachers by making a bowl/basket with a Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub and apples with cute little sayings on the leaves.
I think I liked the idea of creating something rather than just buying a gift card. At least then, Holden knew what we were doing and who we were making it for. Now, I just need to think of something to give for the end of the year. Can you believe summer break begins in two weeks?? Where has the time gone!

Tattoos
I feel like we go through a constant obsession. First it was stickers, then band aids, then it was stamps, and now tattoos.
And heaven forbid they get wet....oh no they might come off so now I need two more to replace that one! Oh joy! Even the littlest one is so proud of his new tattoos plastered across his arms! Too funny! At least they are not real and I am hoping it stays that way forever!
Lets Play!
It has been a busy week of playing! We have played, played, and played some more. It is pretty clear the boys LOVE their new play set!

Fishing Weekend
Over the weekend we met some friends at their lake cabin. It is a part of a fishing/hunting club called the Briarwood Club in Bellefontaine, Ohio. (or as I like to say, the middle of nowhere!!!) Really, I do not know how you would have ever found this place.
The boys fished,

we went walking,
Kevin tried to paddle a boat,
and watched the Derby.
Back to Kevin paddling the boat, he was the only one without a life jacket...not too smart I tell you. But considering we did not go anywhere except in circles I think we were safe.
On the way back this morning I asked Kevin what he thought about everything, he said, and I quote, "I think I am more of a beach person". After this weekend it is safe to say, Kevin does not like worms, fish, bugs, frogs, and probably anything else to do with nature! HA! This was one for the memory books for sure!!
Here are some more pictures of our weekend in the wilderness.

Playset Complete!
Surprisingly, there were no big snags with the installation of the play set. I am thinking that has to do with Kevin's decision to ask his friend Darren, who just happens to work in construction to help. Yes, finally someone who knows what they are doing!!!
They worked late into the night but look....
it is complete!! If only the rain would stop so we could enjoy it!
