Picture Perfect Christmas Tree Farm

What says Christmas more than cutting your own tree at a Christmas tree farm. What about a blanket of snow on those trees? Doesn't that just scream Merry Christmas!! Sunday we visited Big Tree Plantation Christmas Tree farm and it was picturesque! The pictures do not do it justice, it was like a scene from a movie. They had reindeer, other animals, actual real Christmas wreaths being made, the cutest Christmas store, free hot chocolate, horse and carriage rides, a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick, Troops supporting the Trees for Troops campaign, and how could I forget the trees!

We told the boys they could pick out any tree they wanted. And off they went, in search for the perfect tree! After searching, what seemed like forever with the snow beginning to fall again, Holden found the perfect one! Holden assisted cutting his perfect tree down and just look at him pulling it back to be bound, he was so proud!
Kevin and I both knew this tree was tiny but did not realize how tiny until we were ready to leave. Yep, you may have guessed, we are now the proud owners of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Holden insisted that we tie it to the roof, just like everyone else. Kevin on the other hand was hemming and hawing, telling me he thought the poor thing would fly off. So after and attempt to tie this jewel down we decided it would be best to put it in the trunk, and yes the little thing fit. See I told you it was small, but did I mention it was crooked too? Yes, a jewel!!

Again this tree is just for ornaments that the boys have either made in preschool, church or at home over the years. Then some new crafts that we have made over the past week. Just wait until you see the most beautiful tree in the world, pictures to come soon!!!

I am in love with Big Tree Plantation. This is most defiantly a new Family Christmas tradition for us to enjoy year after year.

Winter Wonderland

Over the weekend, we woke to a winter wonderland! As you could imagine, the boys went crazy! They could not get outside fast enough. Once outside, there were snow ball fights, snow angels, an little bit of sledding and yes, alot of playing!! Really, they played and played and played. While the boys were playing I had Kevin putting up the Christmas lights....just like Clark Griswold! He did inform me that he would not go up on the ladder, to put the wreaths on the windows until the snow had stopped. What a Scrooge! But at least we have some lights up.

And ALOT has changed in just a couple of months, Rylan now loves the snow. I caught him several times eating the snow, he just could not get enough! But when we had to go in to warm up, Rylan screamed and yelled and screamed some more. It looks like he will have some fun playing in the snow this winter. I think this officially means that winter has begun for us here!

A Down Home Parade

Tonight was our local Christmas parade and Kevin's annual work Christmas party, employees only. Since Kevin was not going to be at home, I packed up the boys and off we went for some holiday fun. We missed this parade last year, so I did not know what to expect. There were carolers, ice sculpting, I love this picture! Holden and Rylan's faces watching the ice sculpting. Too funny these two!! A nativity petting farm, A cute little parade, Singing and story time at the library. Each child was given bells for their shoes as they walked into the library. Rylan just loved them. He loved them so much that he kept asking for more, and more, and more! We ended up with two pockets full of bells. Carriage Rides-Rylan's favorite! He kept saying, "One more horsie ride!" "Again" Again!!", tractor train rides-another favorite of both boys, Holden wrote a Christmas card for our troops, pictures with Santa & the Grinch. If you are wondering where Rylan is this whole time, he said, "NOOOOOOO!!" He does NOT like Santa! Hence that is why there no pictures. Instead, he was attached to my hip! Hot Chocolate, cookies, and so much more!! It was bitterly cold, but we had a blast! It definitely exceeded all my expectations! On a side note, the area we live in is fairly large, however, it has a down home feel to it, and something I am growing to love. They really know how to organize great events for the entire family to enjoy! This was such a sweet, fun and family friendly parade for us and a definite for next year.

But we have to match!

Today, was Pajama Day for Holden at school. He was all about having a matching outfit! Just take a look, pirate pj's, pirate skeleton socks, an yes the pirate monkey for sharing too! And Rylan wanted his outfit to match for school also. My little fashionistas!!

When I grow up...

Holden informed me this morning of what he wants to be when he grows up. Here is how the conversation went...

"Mom when I grown up and I am not playing football I am going to be a singer." I reply,"Really" Holden says, " Yes, I am going to either sing with, you know the kid I look like?" I say, "Justin Bieber" (Yes, he thinks they look alike, funny I know!!) Holden replies, "Yeah, him or Black Eyed Peas because they have rockin' song beats."

I guess my little song bird has decided he want to be a singer/performer. Who would have guessed! We will have to look back on this conversation in a couple of years and see if this really came true!

Christmas Traditions

Over the past couple of years our countdown to Christmas has become bigger and bigger. Probably due to the fact that the boys are getting older and that they love activities. Today, being December 1, was the beginning of this years countdown. First, the boys woke up to a surprise in the mailbox, what a way to start the day! After school it was time to see what our activity was going to be.... We made foam Christmas ornaments and keepsake hand print ornaments. Once they dry, and I add a ribbon, I will post how cute they look on the tree. Not only do we have our countdown, Holden was sent home with a countdown project from school too. Each day we break one of the chain links off until it is Jesus' birthday. It is a cute idea and he was excited about making paper chains that he can actually break. And one last fun way to countdown to Christmas, I wrapped Christmas books, puzzles, and movies, so that each night they can unwrap a surprise. We did this last year and they LOVED it!!! Best part, everything is something we already owned, with the exception of one book. Seriously look at how excited they are to pick out a surprise.
Even though this time of year is always so busy, I love the fact that the boys get so excited to see what new project, activity or book they have in store. It is worth all the planning, I know I will treasure these memories forever.

A view from our window

What is that we see.....
Yes, SNOW! Brrr, it is cold outside!!! I must say, it is a sight with the Christmas lights and snow. It is really beautiful!
