Second Game, Second Basket

Saturday was our second game of the basketball season. And just like the week before, the scene was beyond cute. Really, they are just hilarious to watch. For most of them the basketball is almost as big as they are and then to watch their excitement even when the other team makes a basket. Precious I tell you! Surprisingly, Holden "The Batman" made another basket! Trust me, I think he grew about two inches in that moment! I am sure this coming Saturday's game, the excitement and enthusiasm will continue! Go Mountaineers!!!

Slime and a little bit of magic

Each day while Rylan naps, Holden and I try to do something together, just the two of us. Anything from reading, drawing, playing "guys", crafts, and little science experiments. Lately, slime/quicksand has been a daily request. He could play for hours in this stuff. We decided to include Rylan and see if he would like playing with this messy mixture. I am sure you can guess, it was a hit with him as well. Can you believe that a simple mixture of cornstarch and water would be a favorite form of entertainment for these little guys!

Since the boys love experiments, I knew they would love this magic trick I came across the other day. First you fill four cups with water and set aside. Place one drop of food coloring on four spoons and then cover with baking soda. Say, "Abracadabra turn this water to blue." Stir the spoon in the water and voila! The water turns to BLUE! WOW, Momma knows magic!!! This trick was a HUGE hit! So much that we went through 2 boxes of baking soda doing this trick. Now in order to do this trick over and over, I had to be a little sneaky and hide the food coloring behind the cookbook stand to discreetly place a drop on the spoons. Why? Because I did want him to figure out my secret! A little difficult but it was so worth the look of shock on Holden's face each time I did the trick.

It is true the simplest things are often the most fun!!

Family fun at Perfect North Slopes

You would think with all the cold and snowy weather we have had the past couple of days we would be hibernating inside. But instead, we decided to head to Indiana for some family fun at Perfect North Slopes. They have several slopes for skiing, snow boarding and snow tubing. Now let me start out by saying, Kevin and I have never been snow skiing or tubing before so this was a first for us and the boys. After we gathered our snow tubes we headed to the top of the tubing slopes. Once we were up at the top, we decided to link our tubes and all go together....and off we went. Uhh, it was just a little faster than we expected or should I say alot more. But what fun!!! We loved it!!! Especially Rylan, he kept saying, "One more time, one more time." Yes, the boys are fearless!

I can honestly say this was one of the best days we have had in a long time! We had a blast!!! Holden is already planning our next trip to Perfect North, he has decided he is going to ski next time and knowing his determination he will!

Stan the Donut Man!!

The January's Kids Day Out was held at Stan the Donut Man's bakery. Stan was so gracious to allow our group to tour and give the kids an inside scoop on how donuts are made. It was great!! Seriously, what kid would not love a morning filled with donuts.

Our tour of this Mom & Pop shoppe began in the kitchen with Stan! He explained how the mixers and equipment worked, how to make icing, and then it was time to play with the dough. The kids kneaded, rolled, and finally cut the dough for donuts. He showed us how to make cinnamon rolls, braids, and twist. Stan was fabulous! The kids loved every minute of the morning. I enjoyed hearing the history of the original Donut Man, his father, and about when this particular location opened.

Then it was time to enjoys some sweet treats! As Holden said, "Now I know why they call him Stan the Donut Man!" Can you tell he liked the donuts?!

What a neat outing with the boys! I love finding special local finds and this one is a gem! I am sure we will be making another visit very soon!

Can't believe it was our first...

This week has been filled with firsts...Rylan's first chapel, Holden's first basketball game and now our first snowman. I know it is hard to believe that with all the snow we have received over the past year we have never made a snowman.

Ever since the boys received snowmen kits for Christmas, they have constantly been asking to make one. To be honest, we have not had that much snow in the past week. Last night, we received maybe 2 inches, if that, and again, they were asking to make a snowman. Finally, after basketball we decided to try to make one. Now, our snowman turned out to be a Mini Frosty but he sure is cute! He reminds me of our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, little, cute, with alot of character! I am sure in the next couple of weeks we will be able to put our snowman kits to more use but for now Mini Frosty will have to do!
