Welcome to Summer

Each year after school is out for summer we have a "Welcome to Summer" celebration at the house.  I usually decorate the play set, set up games, and have the entire day planned.  However this year, between baseball, the weather, doctors appointments, travelling, and errands, it has a little tricky planning a day of fun. With that said, I decided to take a chance and plan on Thursday for the celebration.  I opted not to decorate outside because of the chance of rain but I did have a few surprises to get the summer started off right.

I made watermelon waffles.

We tried, and I do mean tried to beat the rain.  Rylan was out and on the slip and slide before 9:00!

He was trying to get me with the water gun too.

Holden on the other hand was a little hesitant of the water.  Why, because it was freezing!

As soon as he had the courage to run and dive down the slip and slide, the rain set in.  In other words, our "Welcome to Summer" celebration was a bust!

My inlaws came into town Thursday afternoon so all was fine with the boys. Friday the weather was much better and once again I pulled out the slip and slide and baby pool for some outside water fun.

Leyton came out to see all the fun too.

This time, it was a hit.  They had a blast!

Especially Rylan when he ambushed his Dad-Daddy with the water gun.

Our celebration did not go as planned but either way, summer has officially begun!

6 Months Old!!

Leyton is 6 Months Old!

This little guy is getting so big and is so much fun.

Lately he has been rolling and scooting all over the place.

The days of putting him down and him staying in one place are slowly coming to an end.  He has also started to try to sit up on his own.

He is not exactly there yet but almost.  I still can not believe he is 6 months old already, where has the time gone.  I know one thing is fore sure, this little guy is loved so much.

Happy 6 Months Leyton!

Last Day of School {Holden}

Holden's official last day of First Grade was on Thursday.  Look at how much he had grown from the beginning of the year

until now.

Since it is not like Kindergarten where you have a graduation or celebration on the last day, Holden requested a "special" dinner to celebrate his last day.

He planned out the menu down to what he wanted to drink.  His menu consisted of hotdogs, Cheetos, watermelon, lemonade in a Mason jar and brownies for dessert.

He is so funny about what he wants.  Leyton joined us outside for the celebration too.

Friday was Highland Games at school.  This is like a field day where Clan's compete various obstacle
courses to win points for your Clan.  Holden is in the McGregor Clan (Red).

The first set of games were for Kindergarten and 1st graders to compete.  The ball between the legs seemed much easier when watching as opposed to when Holden was actually jumping.

But he finished in good spirits.

Here are a couple of other games, the ball under the chin,

potato sack races,

and find your shoe in the pile,

just to name a few.  After a snack break, all the grades joined together for school wide games.  Holden was having such a good time with his friends.

I forgot to mention my other two, Rylan played most of the time at the playground

and Leyton was such a good sport and spent most of the time in the carrier and then in the stroller for a "snack" break too.

As the games continued, Holden cheered on his clan, which in the end... WON!  Yes, the McGregor Clan are the 2013 champions.  A fun way to end 1st grade with games, friends, and fun.

Fire Chief for the Day

Holden's school puts on an annual fundraiser auction each fall.  They auction everything from jewelry to elaborate trips.  On Tuesday night, I got a call from one of his friends parents let me know that they had won the auction item of "Fire Chief for the Day" for their son.   With this auction item they are allowed to invite two friends and wanted to know if Holden wanted to join.  I knew Holden would be thrilled and immediately told them yes.

Wednesday the fire chief came and had lunch with the boys.  They then all piled in his car and headed over to the fire station.

Me and my crew followed too. The firefighters greeted the boys when they arrived.

They showed them the fire truck,

their gear and then gave them a tour of the station.

All of the boys were grinning from ear to ear.

A great way to finish out their first grade year.
