A Surprise Road Trip

Saturday morning we packed the kids in the car for a surprise road trip.  I wanted to do a couple of these of the summer but it just did not work out as planned.  However, Saturday, the boys did not have a clue where we were taking them until we were on the road.  So where did we go?  Louisville, Kentucky.  It's about an hour and a half away from us and knew it would be the perfect surprise.  First we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum.

We visited this museum two years ago, but the kids did not seem to remember.  We toured the factory first but they did not allow pictures on the tour.

After, the boys looked at the bats and Holden found one of his favorite players bat...

Bryce Harper!  He was thrilled.  All three of our future ball players sat in the dugout and held bats.

The lego area was a huge hit too.

Yes, those are legos!  A few hits in the batting cages and then we head over to Slugger Field for the second part of our surprise...a baseball game.

Kevin got really close seats but it was just too hot for Leyton so we sat under the over hang until the sun went down.  While Kevin and the boys watched the game they snacked and snacked and snacked!  HA!  Always a party!  The Bats ended up not winning but we all had a great time.

We did not even get 10 minutes on the road when all three were sound asleep.  I would say our surprise road trip was a big hit.

Fun at the Park

With less than two weeks left until school starts back, we are trying to make the most of our last days of summer.  This past week we visited a new splash park and park.  The boys were so excited.  And this park did not disappoint.  The park it's self is built like a tree complete with a spiderweb and spider.

We were basicly the only ones at the park that day which made enjoying the splash park even more fun.  I sat Leyton down to cool off and at first he was not sure what to think about the water but then he warmed up to the sprinkles.

I have decided that Rylan does not have a quiet bone in his body!

He was running through the water like a wild man.

We kept going from the splash park to the park and back again.  Leyton enjoyed swinging with his brothers the best.

What better way to enjoy our last days of summer cooling off at the park.

As the boys would say, "We give this park two thumbs up!"

Messy Boys!

Every summer since Holden was a baby we have painted with pudding.  It started off pretty calm and then each passing year it has gotten messier and messier.

When I suggested we paint with pudding this week, Rylan was so excited while Holden on the other hand claimed he was "too big" to do that now.  Agggrrr, this growing up is the pits!  I told Rylan I would still make the pudding for him and let him play with it if he wanted but he could decided.  Well, he decided this was his favorite thing to do and wanted to get messy. Surprising, I know.  Since Leyton was napping, I went ahead and made two batches of pudding, just in case Holden changed his mind.

Rylan and I were set up when low and behold, here comes Holden.  I secretly knew he would not miss out on this fun.

These two started out clean but that only lasted a second or two before they were both covered from head to toe and having a blast!

They chased each other, laughed and had a messy fun time together.

The way summer break should be!

The idea of these moments slowly dwindling away has been a tugging at my heart for the past couple of months.  I know they have to grow up, but it just seems so quickly.  Especially with the world we live in.  It seems that they go from these innocent kids to teenagers overnight.  Ahh, just send me back to Mayberry, where times were easier and you could slow down and appreciate these little beings.  By no means am I trying to say my life is hard, but it is busy.  Just keeping up with the day to day life of laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping and everything else, you forget to laugh and take the time to really appreciate these crazy times.   And trust me they are crazy times but that is OK.  So for now, I will accept these moments and memories however I can get them, crazy and all.

8 Months Old!

Leyton is 8 Months Old!

This little guy has turned into a little mover this past month.  He is rolling all over the place and scooting on his knees.  Not crawling yet.  But he does get on his knees and pumps his booty and then flops forward.  I think by the end of the week he will be moving around.

He has also started looking out of his crib after his naps to play peek-a-boo.

Leyton is getting his top teeth and his molars all at the same time!  As you can see, everything goes in his mouth and not to mention, he is drooling like crazy!

But even with all this going on, this little guy is such a joy to be around.

Happy 8 Months baby boy!

It's NEVER a dull moment!

Life with three boys is always exciting.  Trust me, there is never a dull moment here.  Between explosion diapers and the older two getting into everything, I am always on alert.  So when the house was quiet the other day, I knew they had to be into something.   Rylan came sneaking upstairs and told me to close my eyes, I knew I was in for a surprise!  And I most certainly was surprised to see this...

But this picture only shows the half of it, he had marker all over his legs, back, and oh his face!  All I can say is that he keeps me on my toes!
