Say it isn't so...

The forecast for this weekend...

Saturday, cold with a chance of snow flurries...WHAT? In October!
I think these southerners are in for a shock this winter!!!

HallZOOween

This past weekend we went to HallZOOween, at you guessed it, the zoo. The boys had a great time looking at the animals and visiting each treat station! Some of their favorite treats were, the bananas at the monkeys, ice cream at the polar bears, and cookies in the petting/children's area. Rylan favorite part of the day was picking out a baby pumpkin at the pumpkin patch while Holden's highlight was getting his face painted like batman. And they both enjoyed the train ride with all the blow up Halloween items to see. It was a fun time for all of us. However, I will note for next year not to get to the zoo when the event begins at 12:00 but rather later around 2:30 when the crowds were not as bad. It was crazy busy but then all of a sudden everyone left at once and the kids had more room to see the animals.
**And if you are wondering why the kids did not dress up. It is because Holden keeps going back and forth on what he wants to be for Halloween. I am hoping he will have a final decision this weekend so that they are NOT sold out of what he wants to be!**

Happy HallZOOween!

Mom & Tot Lunch

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a MOMS Club playgroup by a mother at Holden's preschool. So not knowing anyone I decided, what else do we really have to do, so we went. And I am really glad that I did. Not only for the boys to have friends but for myself to meet some people too. What is great about this group of moms is that they plan TONS of stuff besides just playgroup, such as Family Night Out, Moms Night Out, Craft play days, and Mom & Tot lunches. We decide to join the group today at Uno's Pizza for Mom & Tot Lunch. Holden got to make his own pizza (well sort of). They bring the unbaked dough, sauce and cheese. Then kids get to "make" their own special pizza or rather spread the sauce and dump the cheese. Then they bake it and return it to eat! Cute idea and all of the kids seemed to think it was great. But to me the best part was that KIDS EAT FREE! Not a bad deal for a rainy cold day! Holden and Rylan seemed to have a fun time at lunch, but really what is better than pizza to a toddler.

Fall Festival at Shaw Farms

Have I mentioned how much I love fall?? I really do! I love everything from the crisp air, pumpkins, apples, tractors, farms, and especially fall family outings! I found this great farm, Shaw Farms, that has a Fall Festival every weekend in October! Best part about it, it is FREE!! This family farm is nestled on 150 acres in Milford, Ohio. They decorate pumpkins to look like Indians, Pirates, The Flintstones, Cinderella, Cowboys, and so much more. Here are a couple of the boys favorites...
This farm also had two different types of hayrides, either by horse drawn or pulled by a tractor. The boy's decided to go with the tractor hayride! Isn't this land beautiful! They also have a petting farm, an iron smith, and pumpkins. But we decided to get small pumpkins since we have plans to go to a pumpkin farm later this month. We had so much fun and I think this farm will be a part of our fall tradition while we are here.

People Are Crazy!

God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are CRAZY! I love this song and agree with it totally! I feel like I am a magnet for crazy people! Here is just a recap of my recent trip to the grocery store with Rylan yesterday (Holden and Kevin were playing soccer)...

First Crazy Story: I open the refrigerator section with the milk to get my own milk (there was no one waiting beside or behind me) and all of a sudden not one but two people stepped in front of me and got their milk! Not once did they say "Excuse me" or "Thank you"! RUDE & CRAZY!!!

Second Crazy Story: I was on an aisle and a grandmother was talking to Rylan and turns to me and says, "He is so cute, he looks just like my son with his big head" WHAT!!!! My son does not have a big head! I did not know what to say, I just laughed!

Because, PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!!!

The last of the birthdays...

Yep, the last of the birthdays ended on Thursday. Can you believe we have four months of birthdays in a row? My birthday is in July, Holden's birthday in August, Rylan's birthday in September and finally Kevin's in October! And then there is Thanksgiving and Christmas so really 6 months of celebrations!
Instead of baking a cake, we opted, or rather I did, to try a new bakery. Over the weekend we tried Busken Bakery and it was ok but not great. On Thursday, we decided to try Sugar Mommies Cakery and it was delicious! This mother/daughter owned bakery has it all, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and of coarse cakes!
The boys were tired wait on daddy to get home from work so this is the best picture I could get!But the best birthday gift came later that evening...we put an offer on a house earlier in the week (that we LOVE) and they accepted it!! YEAH, WE HAVE A HOUSE!!! However, they can not close until on or before November 12. I am hoping for the before but at least we see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Happy Birthday Kevin!! (Better known as Daddy)

Our First Visit from the Grandparents

Dad-daddy and Grammy came last weekend for a visit. It had only been a month since we had seen them last but I think in "Grandparent time" it was more like a year. The boys were so excited to see both of them. While Kevin was working, Holden and Dad-daddy went fishing. Grammy opened her extra suitcase to show me what all she bought. Yes, Sadako brought an extra bag of just clothes she had bought for the boys! Can we say spoiled! And if that were not enough, I took Sadako to a store I found, Little Sprouts, and we shopped some more:) Here is a little more of what we did last weekend. Watched Florida play and win against Kentucky. Thankfully, Tim Tebow is recovering well! Took a field trip to Jungle Jim's only to discover more...like International World, Robin Hood, and much much more, as you can see. This place is truly amazing!!

We had an early birthday party for Kevin. Oh yeah, and moved, only to a new apartment don't get too excited! It was a short but fun visit had by all!

Quote of the Day

While playing with our Star Wars Play-Doh set today, Holden made a Princess Leia and said,
"I like Princess Leia. She has nice boobies!"

I tried not to laugh but it was just too funny. I guess boys just have it programmed into them to know the difference between girls and boys.

Duke Energy Children's Museum

The forecast is calling for rain, what should we do?? Visit the Children's Museum. And that is just what we did yesterday. The Duke Energy Children's Museum is housed in the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. What a strange name, right? Well, within the Museum Center, additional museums are located too, such as Cincinnati History Museum, Museum Natural History & Science, OMNIMAX Theater, and the terminal is a restored train station. As Holden said when he walked in the terminal, "WOW". The train terminal was a treat within itself, as you can see...
The boys had a great time at the Water Works, Tree House, Grocery Store, but I think most of all in the Construction Zone. After lunch we decided to walk around the terminal and were lucky enough to be able to go to Tower A to see the trains below! (The tower is only open on the weekend but there was a conference going on and a nice gentleman allowed us to walk up!)
What a fun day! But I might add...it never rained!!!

Apple Picking

After our failed attempt to go apple picking this week. We set out for a family outing to Irons' Fruit Farm this morning. And wow, there were so many apples to pick!
Unlike last year, the trees at this orchard were huge and hard to climb. So Holden used Daddy as his own personal ladder. And Rylan did not want to miss out on the action of picking apples. But I believe his favorite part was eating the apples rather than picking.
We ended up picking a bushel! I am already planning to make apple cobbler, homemade apple sauce, baked apples and probably some other tasty treats from today's fun fall outing. I really do love this time of year!
