Milestones

Leyton is growing so fast!

The past couple of weeks he has rolled from his tummy to his back and now from his back to his tummy.

He also is not a toothless baby anymore, he has cut his bottom two teeth!  Since the weather has started warming up here, we have been spending more and more time outside.  It was in the high 80's today, to beat the heat we took the philosophy of no shoes, no shirt, no problem.

This little guy can get away with this this mindset.  I actually think this maybe our summer attire this year since I just can not get enough of his cute legs and little baby rolls!

Aren't they the sweetest!

Gardening, Again.

Last summer, our square foot garden was a huge success not only for me but the kids loved watching (and eating) what we grew.  We knew we had to do it again.  Our little helper Rylan, cleaned and prepped the soil with Kevin before we planted.  We decided to stick with what worked last year however, we did add a couple of new vegetables to this year's garden.

We planted herbs in the front, chives, parsley, rosemary, and basil then vegetables in the back.  This year we planted tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, peas, green beans, squash, corn, green peppers, orange peppers and cucumbers.

Since cilantro did not work last year in the box I placed it in a pot to see if it will grow better.  Fingers crossed it will survive!  I had Holden write our planter sticks again.

Now it officially looks like a "family" garden.  While we were at the nursery Kevin picked up an additional pot of peppers.

I suppose I will be making a ton of salsa this summer!

We are so excited to watch our garden grow.

Mother's Day Tea

Last week both boys had their Mother's Day events at school.  Holden's was on Wednesday and it began with a beautiful tea just for the Mom's.  There were pastries, scones, fruit, coffee and tea.

It was such a lovely set-up.  We all had a chance to visit together before the kids joined us.  The kids were asked to write a paragraph about their Mother and draw a picture along with it.  Holden was a little nervous about speaking in front of a room full of people but he did really well.

His picture of me was hilarious   I wish I would have taken a picture of it before it went into his big book that he leaves at school.

As a gift they made jars of chocolate chip cookie mix for us to make together.

I am sure these will be made really soon.

Rylan's Mother's Day Tea was on Friday.  He informed me that I had to wear a dress and he even picked it out for me.  I guess he had a certain way he wanted me to look!  His tea was so cute!  He greeted me at the door with my Mother's Day hat and escorted me to our table.

At the table there were handmade gift galore.  There was a huge flower with our picture on it. It was so cute!

A bracelet and a few things about me he wrote.

I always love reading what the kids write about me especially Rylan.  You never know what he will say!  A few of my favorites were "What is your Mom's job?" "To make us boys dinner" Oh my goodness!  Then my favorite show, American Idol, which I have never watched.  And the list goes on and on.  His responses were pretty funny as you can imagine.

He served me a muffin and juice, just like a little gentleman.

We enjoyed them together before the kids sang some sweet songs for us.

As usual, Rylan was a ham!  Singing and doing the hand motions. I did tell Kevin I think he may be the class cut up or maybe he was just excited.  I sure hope he was just excited.  But he was having a ball.

Two wonderful teas with two of my little men.  It was a Happy Mother's Day indeed.

Two Wheeler

Rylan decided this week that he wanted his training wheels off his bike.  And when Rylan decides something, he is makes sure it happens.  When Kevin came home from work Thursday night, off went the training wheels.  It only took a couple of times down the street before Rylan was up and riding by himself.

Kevin and Holden were both running beside him just in case he fell but this little guy was determined to stay on and he did.

He went up and down the street over and over.

If only you could hear him as he was going up and down the street, he was yelling, "This is the best day ever!"

To say he was excited, is an understatement.

Rylan is still riding with our assistance but I just can not believe how fast he got the hang of riding a two wheeler!  I guess he is determined to keep up with big brother.
