Baseball, Game Ball, & Strawberry Picking

My in-laws were in town this past weekend.  Most of our time was spent at the baseball fields.  After 3 weeks of rain outs, Rylan finally had a game.  He was so excited!

Rylan has the best expressions when he is out on the field yelling for everyone to throw him the ball.

Oh this kid!  But he was out there hustling and trying his best and when they mentioned that snacks would be given out after this inning, this was his reaction!

Just the mention of food gets him excited.

After the big game, the coaches acknowledged the players who gave their best effort during the game.  Well, look who received the game ball.....

our baseball player Rylan!

So sweet.

Holden had games too.  He always gets nervous if he sees me taking pictures so I only have these few from the game.

Even with all the games, we did manage to get out and have a little fun.  We went to one of our favorite farms for strawberry picking.  This was the first time for my in-laws and they went a little crazy.

The boys picked their fair share too.

Rylan loves to "test" his fruit just to make sure their ok.

Strawberry picking is one of those summer traditions that we look forward to every year.

The year, we ended up picking a total all together of 24 pounds!!

Completely crazy but we split them between the family.  This week so far I've made strawberry jam, strawberry balsamic dressing, and then froze some for smoothies and other recipes.  Before heading home after strawberry picking, we stopped by the asparagus farm.

By this time, Leyton was ready for his nap.  With that said, we picked really quickly and were able to get 2 pounds in that short time.  They were fresh and so good!

Another busy weekend of baseball, family and traditions.  Now, it feels like summer to me.

Welcome to Summer

Each year after school is out for summer we have a "Welcome to Summer" celebration at the house.  I usually decorate the play set, set up games, and have the entire day planned.  However this year, between baseball, the weather, doctors appointments, travelling, and errands, it has a little tricky planning a day of fun. With that said, I decided to take a chance and plan on Thursday for the celebration.  I opted not to decorate outside because of the chance of rain but I did have a few surprises to get the summer started off right.

I made watermelon waffles.

We tried, and I do mean tried to beat the rain.  Rylan was out and on the slip and slide before 9:00!

He was trying to get me with the water gun too.

Holden on the other hand was a little hesitant of the water.  Why, because it was freezing!

As soon as he had the courage to run and dive down the slip and slide, the rain set in.  In other words, our "Welcome to Summer" celebration was a bust!

My inlaws came into town Thursday afternoon so all was fine with the boys. Friday the weather was much better and once again I pulled out the slip and slide and baby pool for some outside water fun.

Leyton came out to see all the fun too.

This time, it was a hit.  They had a blast!

Especially Rylan when he ambushed his Dad-Daddy with the water gun.

Our celebration did not go as planned but either way, summer has officially begun!

6 Months Old!!

Leyton is 6 Months Old!

This little guy is getting so big and is so much fun.

Lately he has been rolling and scooting all over the place.

The days of putting him down and him staying in one place are slowly coming to an end.  He has also started to try to sit up on his own.

He is not exactly there yet but almost.  I still can not believe he is 6 months old already, where has the time gone.  I know one thing is fore sure, this little guy is loved so much.

Happy 6 Months Leyton!
