Santa's Elf Has Arrived!

Just like so many others, we have adopted the Elf on the Shelf as part of our Christmas tradition. If you are not familiar with The Elf on the Shelf, it is a little elf who "arrives" to help Santa know who has been naughty or nice. He reports back each night to Santa. In the morning, the elf is hiding in a new place. It really it alot of fun! Our elf, Christian, arrived yesterday morning for the holiday season! Yesterday he was perched on top of the kitchen cabinet and this morning he was in the Christmas tree. I think our elf may be a little mischievous, just like our boys! We will just have to wait and see where he turns up next.
Just in case you are wondering why it is still dark outside? The garbage truck picks up our trash on Wednesday at 5:00 am. Yes, crazy I know and I think it was actually 4:50 this morning! Do they really need to come that early!! But who loves the garbage truck and hears it? You guessed it HOLDEN! Thankfully, he laid back down for a bit but it was still early when he was up for the day!

Thanksgiving Holiday

We went to Georgia to visit Kevin's family for the Thanksgiving holiday. What a LONG drive!! But finally after we arrived, we had lots of fun. We played football, went on a nature walk or in Holden's eyes a deer hunt, Kevin and I went shopping on Black Friday, met our friends Jenny and Meredith at the park, and spent quality family time together. I know we all had a great visit and can't wait to visit again soon.

Thankful

This year, just like every year, we have so much to be thankful for, our family, friends, new friends that we meet, our health, home, and happiness. I truly believe that this is a time to look at everything in our lives and realize how blessed we really are. I could not ask for more! (except for maybe an easier/faster trip back to Ohio. It took forever to get to Atlanta!!)
At school Holden had to draw and say what he was thankful for. He said Mom and Dad. The budding artist drew this picture of us.(Note: I am the one smiling and long hair.) I was thrilled he named us. And I told him that he was so sweet. He replied, "Yes, because you buy me Happy Meals and they are my favorite!" I knew there was a catch!

Happy Thanksgiving from our little Turkey's to yours!

Cowboy Blitzen Video

Holden loves to watch himself on video, so as we were pretending to ride the bull (the castle box) this video of Cowboy Blitzen (aka Holden) came about. This pretty much sums up my days. You will have to excuse the mess in the basement..as I said it is operation organization these days! Hope you enjoy the laugh as much as I have! Enjoy:)

Cowboy Holden

We unpacked the dress-up clothes over the weekend...introducing Cowboy Blitzen Holden. Yes, you may ask what kind of name is that? Well, that is what my bull rider/cowboy wants to be called! And yes, Blitzen just like the reindeer! I really do not know where he comes up with this stuff. One thing is fore sure, he really loves his outfit. He has wore it everyday to school, the grocery store, Target, and to bed! I think it is safe to say my little man has missed his cowboy outfit!

Thanksgiving Fun

Even though we have been busy settling in, the boys and I have tried to have a little fun celebrating before Thanksgiving. We've made Turkey Dogs, Pilgrim Hats and Turkey Gobblers. To be honest, I think I may have created a monster! Holden expects special lunches/treats each day! HA! What have I done! I guess I better get to planning some more special holiday treats. Happy Thanksgiving Eating!

Getting Settled....

Time to catch up! For the past week or so, I feel like all that we have done is unpack, sift through boxes, throw away boxes, organize, rearrange, you get the idea, it has been alot more work than I had planned! But I think the house is turning into a home soon enough! The actual moving day went smoothly, we had a great moving crew! Only a couple of items were scratched or broken, not too bad for being in storage over 2 months. Thankfully, Kevin's parents were here to help with he boys while I directed what to go where. And the visit would not be complete with out putting Dad-daddy to work installing a chandelier. I also feel like we had the entire welcoming committee come to our house, which was such a delight. We received this beautiful house warming basket for our realtor Jodie, from various neighbors we received muffins and a gift bag for Holden and Rylan, oatmeal cookies, and this Cincinnati favorites basket with tons of local treats. For a moment, I thought we were in the South.

While the house is a working progress, I decided to go ahead and decorate for Christmas. (as if I did not have enough to do, and why not just add to the mess) So, I will post pictures of the house next week with everything decorated but here are a couple of pictures of the family room and downstairs bathroom.(Note:It is a working progress! Pictures are not hung or drapes yet)

But the most important part of getting settled is getting back to our tradition of Friday Night Movie Night. As you can see, the boys are feeling right at home!

The day has FINALLY come!

The day has finally come. Yes, you guessed it...Moving Day! Our final walk through was tonight, we close tomorrow and our movers are scheduled for Friday morning. All we can say is YEAH!! The only pictures I got tonight were the boys running around the house and yard. You really would have thought that they had not seen grass, ever! But then they spotted the neighbors play set. Can we say envious?? I believe Santa is going to have to bring us a new one. (ours was part of the negotiation with the house sale in Georgia) I know this weekend is going to be alot of work but I am so looking forward to it!! Our sellers are the nicest, most organized people; they labeled the wires for surround sound, TV and such. Plus the house was immaculate! I really think the sellers husband may be Kevin's twin! (with his organizational skills and all) Oh, finally a place to call home! Wish us luck.

Happy Halloween!!

Since we are not in our house yet, we decided to participate in Trunk or Treat! Yes, just like Mount Pisgah in Georgia! The church we have been attending host this annual event too! This years theme was Superheros. Even though it was cold, we all had a great time, got tons of candy and received lots of laughs! Isn't that what Halloween is all about! A special Thank You to Aunt Becky Ann for all the adorable Superhero decorations! Here are a couple of other trunks that we loved.

Mrs. Marsha as Swine Flu! She is the head of the Children's Department and is such a neat lady! I thought this was a cleaver idea. And you may not be able to see but she had pig/swine feed in the back as decoration.
On a surprising note, when we got back to the apartment I was expecting Holden to go crazy over the candy. But he said he wanted to save it for later and only had a Tootsie Roll! Is he getting sick??? Rylan on the other hand devoured animal crackers, pretzels, and mini oreos! So even though we are not settled in our new house, the boys were able to trick or treat. But most of all, we had a fun time with great memories of our first Halloween in Ohio. Happy Halloween!

Halloween Parade

Holden's preschool class had a costume parade at the end of the Halloween party today. The kids were not allowed to wear their mask or accessories but as you can see that did not damper Spiderman Holden's mood. Here is Spiderman strutting in the parade!
I love this picture of Holden looking at his muscles! It is too funny!!

Class picture! They all look so cute!

I had a difficult time thinking of something that did not revolve around food for a treat bag. I went with Homemade Orange Play dough and a Halloween Cookie cutter. I know Holden loves play dough and hopefully his friends do too.

And we topped the day off with Monster Munch!

I know the boys are excited, or rather Holden is, about Trick or Treating tonight! Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!

Recap of Halloween Theme Week

Our themed lunches were so much fun this week. I think I need to continue the fun lunches. Holden ate everyday, which was shocking! Here are a couple of pictures...

First Haircut

It's official, our little rooster had his first haircut! I asked the hairdresser to just trim the back so that it would not resemble a mullet. However, the hairdresser went a little scissor happy!! Trust me, I have a baggie of hair as a memento. My baby looks like an enlisted army guy! He has a buzz cut! I was so upset! You think I am exaggerating, I am not. I wanted Rylan to still look like a baby not a big boy with his haircut. I keep telling myself...it is only hair, it will grow!

See the buzz cut!!!

Halloween Theme Week

I have found so many, really too many, cute Halloween themed foods for kids. I decided that we would have a week of these fun yet yummy treats. Today for lunch, the boys enjoyed Mummy dogs, monster teeth, witches hats, candy corn, and ghoul juice (better known as apple juice). The boys thought this was great and I had fun putting it together! I will not bore you all with a post everyday of our treats. But I will post the ones that turn out the cutest! Happy Halloween Eating!
