Between the kids baseball and football schedules, we have really not had much time to to anything fun. We decided to get away for the night and headed to Chicago. I miss the big city vibe and this mini trip was just what I needed. We stayed downtown so that we would be in walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do.
As soon as we arrived into town we headed out to dinner. After dinner, the boys really wanted to ride the subway but we opted for the trolley to Navy Pier.
The sun was setting as we rode the ferris wheel, which made for the perfect views of city and Lake Michigan.
The boys rode the swings and Leyton rode the carousal. Honestly we could not ask for better weather.
Early Sunday morning we arrived that the Shedd Aquarium. This was our first time here and I must say, I was impressed. The building and the history of the building were both beautiful and enlightening.
There were several different species of fish and exhibits that everyone loved.
However, I think the highlight of the aquarium for everyone was the Stingrays.
We stopped for Chicago Pizza before making out way out of town just in time for the Air and Water Show. The Blue Angels were flying over as we were leaving and it was such a sight to see!
Even though it was a short trip, we still loved our time away. Until next time....
